WALKING REFLECTION

In 2019 when I visited Tiananmen Square, it was raining and foggy, but it couldn't stop visitors from strolling
around and taking photos. It looked so peaceful that it was hard to imagine there had been a revolutionary
movement, a student movement for democracy and freedom that had failed after the "clearing" of the Square
on June 4, 1989. Today Tiananmen Square has no any trace of that movement, and the blood left in the square
has been washed away by the rain over and over again, leaving the ground clean and bright, reflecting visitors
strolling around. Reflections are poetic and dreamy, confirming the existence of the body. But the reflection
changes with the reflected light and colour, it is also a false thing, creating a dreamy situation that prevents
you to see the true thing. You can see the peace and happiness of the pedestrians in the square, but it is no
longer possible to see the blood that was shed to achieve democracy.
